Over the past five years ADL’s Thrive Te Pae Ora youth primary mental health and addiction service has grown significantly and is now an integral part of the youth mental health and addiction system across the lower half of Te Wai Pounamu.
ADL also offers longer term programmes such as Adventure Development Counselling, Te Ara Hou, community support work,and transition support for young people experiencing complex issues ranging from coexisting mental health and addiction, offending, to transition from care.
ADL has offices in Dunedin, Timaru, Cromwell and Invercargill and also covers rural areas via mobile staff. We can see clients at school, in the community or at home, with face to face as well as online or phone options available.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a voluntary, worldwide fellowship of people from all walks of life who meet together to attain and maintain sobriety. We provide two programmes: Home Based Social Work Support and Family Start. Both services are home based and focus on improving children's growth and health, learning and relationships, family circumstances, environment and safety, particularly when parents are struggling with challenges or problems that may make it harder to care for their children. Home Based Social Work Support is a shorter intervention and children can be aged up to 17 years of age. This service is not available in Queenstown. Family Start support babies and their caregivers early-before the baby's birth or in their first year and can provide longer term support.
